Steps to make henna paste for hair

People originally used the henna leaves to dye hair, but now the most common way to use it is as a henna powder.

How to choose the right henna? This depends on what you are expecting to achieve. We recommend you choose 100% pure fresh henna (check that it doesn’t contain any chemicals or pesticides) but keep in mind that pure henna just provides orange-reddish colors, and does not work to lighten your hair. I strongly suggest not to use chemicals. (Read my natural solution to curl hair overnight with socks and straighten hair naturally at home.)

If you are looking to achieve a different tone (brownish-blackish tone) you can look up for a henna powder that contains additives that are able to darken your hair (like indigo) or to lighten it a little bit (like cassia ovata) just make sure neither of those contains PPD which is a dangerous chemical compound that can damage skin and hair.

A hair pack of henna powder contains about 500 grams, but you are most likely not going to use it all, it all depends on the length and amount of hair you have.
